Telehealth Music Therapy Options amidst the COVID-19 outbreak

To protect our clients, in-person music therapy services are canceled starting March 17th, 2020. We have transitioned to telemusictherapy when appropriate for each patient. We’re answering some commonly-asked questions about telemusictherapy in this update. For more information and to determine if telemusictherapy is right for your family, please call or email us.

Q: What is telemusictherapy?

A: Telemusictherapy is a live music therapy session conducted through a HIPAA-secure video connection. Each telemusictherapy session is still led by a board-certified music therapist who uses therapeutic music-based interventions to address individualized goals and objects with the patient.

Q: Who can participate in telemusictherapy?

A: Eligibility for telemusictherapy is determined on a case by case basis. Ask your music therapist if telemusictherapy is right for you.

Q: What do I need to participate in telemusictherapy?

A: An internet-enabled device with access to a camera and microphone are required. In some cases, a caregiver acting as an aide with the client may be necessary.
